Seaglass Privacy Policy

Sea Glass Cockpit ("Seaglass") · Last updated: 25 August 2026

Seaglass is a boating app: charts and navigation, anchor safety, a maintenance log, crew communication, media, games, and a boating community. This policy says what data the app handles, why, and what control you have. The short version: we do not sell your data, we do not show third-party ads, and features that share anything about you are off until you turn them on.

What we collect and why

What stays on the boat

Crew chat, the intercom, shared alarms, and multiplayer games can run entirely over the boat's own local network with no internet. That traffic is end-to-end encrypted with a key derived from your boat's invitation and never reaches our servers. Offline charts, downloaded music, and map packs copied between phones stay on the devices involved.

Children

Seaglass accounts require a date of birth at signup, and accounts are currently available only to people 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16; if you believe a younger person has created an account, contact us and we will delete it. A supervised family/kids mode with verifiable guardian consent is planned for a future release.

Third-party services

Seaglass runs on Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, hosting) in the United States. Map, chart, and weather data are fetched from public services (OpenStreetMap, NOAA, USGS, and similar); those requests carry the map area being viewed, as any map app's do. Part-price lookups query retailer sites for the part number you entered. Music streaming links open in Spotify or Apple Music under their own terms. None of these receive your Seaglass account data from us.

Your controls

Important safety note

Seaglass charts and alarms assist good seamanship; they are not for navigation and never a substitute for official charts, a proper lookout, and your own judgment.
